India is a diverse and it is not surprising that the styles and varieties in paintings from the country are as diverse as the country itself. As it is evident from the rock paintings, art has flourished in India for a very long time now.

During the colonial era, artists used Western ideas of composition and artists such as Mukul Chandra Dey who was the first Indian painter to step out of the country to study printmaking. More recently, contemporary art has made a mark in the country with some of the Best Contemporary Artists in India showing a lot of promise.

SH Raza: He is an internationally acclaimed Contemporary Artist In Delhi. He began with figurative paintings but later on moved to abstract.

Manjit Bawa: Born in a small town in Punjab, Bawa was known for his striking portrayal of spirituality and simplicity in his paintings. He was one of the most highly skilled artists in India.
